    Plug it into the P1 port of your smart meter. You connect the P1 dongle yourself.

  2. Connect to the ZinVolt app

    Follow the steps in the app and connect the P1 dongle to your Wi-Fi. You will then see your grid import and export.

  3. Measure first. Choose later.

    Let the P1 dongle measure your electricity pattern. With enough data, you can view your personal battery calculation in the app.

What do I get with the P1 dongle PRO?

You receive the P1 dongle PRO, access to the ZinVolt app and your personal battery calculation. Shipping is free. This purchase does not include a home battery.

The box contains the P1 dongle PRO, a power adapter (5 V / 2 A), a USB-A-to-USB-C cable and a Wi-Fi antenna.

The calculation is based on the measurements collected. Is your smart meter’s P1 port already in use? You may need a suitable P1 splitter.

Do I have to buy a home battery afterwards?

No. You start measuring without buying a home battery. You can keep using the P1 dongle to monitor your grid import and export. You decide whether and when to buy a ZinVolt home battery.

When can I view my battery calculation?

After a short measurement period, we can use your electricity data to simulate a full year. This gives you a useful first picture of the right battery capacity, potential savings and expected payback time. The more measurements you collect, the more accurate the calculation becomes.

Which home batteries are assessed?

Your measurements help you assess a home battery from the ZinVolt range. You gain insight into a suitable storage capacity, potential savings and expected payback time for your situation. This is not a comparison of all battery brands.

How are capacity, savings and payback time calculated?

Your measured grid import and export form the basis. They are used to assess how much storage suits the times when you have surplus electricity and need electricity again later.

Savings and payback time are calculated estimates. Your energy tariff, measurement period, the season and your future usage affect the outcome. The calculation helps you choose but does not guarantee a return.

What do I need to connect the P1 dongle?

You need a smart meter with a suitable P1 port, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network near the meter and the ZinVolt app on your smartphone. The app guides you through pairing.

DSMR 5 meters usually provide power through the P1 port. For DSMR 4 and older meters, use the included power adapter and USB-A-to-USB-C cable for additional power. Is your P1 port already in use? You may need a suitable P1 splitter. If you are unsure about your meter or connection, contact us before ordering.

What exactly does the P1 dongle measure?

The P1 dongle reads grid import and export from your smart meter. You can see when your home takes electricity from the grid and when it supplies electricity to the grid.

The P1 dongle does not separately measure individual appliance consumption or the total generation of your solar panels. Solar electricity used directly in your home does not pass the grid meter as import or export.

When will I receive my P1 dongle?

We ship your P1 dongle free of charge to the Netherlands and Belgium. Order Monday to Friday before 17:00 and we dispatch your order the same day. In most cases, it arrives the next day.
