Turn battery off and on

Turn off your ZinVolt battery in the correct order. Do you want to re-establish the Bluetooth connection? Then turn it on again and search in the app.

The correct sequence

When mains power is lost, the battery stays active to supply devices connected to the backup power outlet. To switch it off completely, follow these steps.

Devices connected to the backup power outlet also lose power while the battery is switched off.

Turn the mains power off to the battery

Switch off the power supply from the mains to the battery. Use your system's connection or switch for this.

isolator switch? Turn it to off (0).
Plug connection? Unplug the battery from the socket.

The battery may remain on. This is normal. Proceed to step 2.

Locate the battery's on/off button. On the ZinVolt Core, it's on top. On the ZinVolt Base, it's on the side.

Press and hold the button for 5 seconds.

Then: release the button

Have 5 seconds passed? Release the button now.

The shutdown will then continue. So do not keep the button pressed while you wait for the lights.

Then: wait for the lights to go out

Wait until the status lights turn off

After you have released the button, wait until all status lights have turned off.

For the ZinVolt Core, check the lights in the round status panel on the front. The location and shape of the status lights may vary per battery.

All status lights off? Then the battery is off. If you want to leave it off, keep the power supply disconnected. To restart, proceed to step 5.

For a restart

Restore the power supply

Reconnect the mains power to the battery using the same connection or switch.

The battery will start up automatically. You do not need to press the power button again for this.

Wait for the battery to start up. Do you want to restore the Bluetooth connection? Then search for the battery again in the ZinVolt app.

Battery not found?

Restore the Bluetooth signal

A restart may help if the app cannot find your battery. Afterwards, check your phone and search again.

    Switch the battery off and back on

    Follow the five steps: mains power off, press for 5 seconds, release, wait until all status lights are off, then restore mains power.

    Check your phone

    Enable Bluetooth and location. Give the app the requested access and stay close to the battery.

    Search again in the ZinVolt app

    Wait until the battery has started. Open the ZinVolt app again and search for your battery.

Questions about switching off

Why does the battery stay on when mains power is off?

This is normal: the battery can keep supplying devices on the backup power outlet when mains power is lost. First switch off mains power, then hold the on/off button for 5 seconds. On the Core it is on top; on the Base it is on the side. Release the button and wait for the status lights to go out.

The status lights stay on. What can I check?

Check that mains power to the battery really is switched off. Hold the on/off button for 5 seconds, then release it. Wait for the status lights to go out. Are they still on? Contact ZinVolt.

Do I need to press the button again to switch the battery on?

No. Once you restore mains power, the battery starts automatically. Wait until it has started before searching again in the app.

I only want to switch the battery off. Do I need step 5 too?

No. Once all status lights are off, the battery is off. Leave mains power switched off to keep it off. Use step 5 when you want to switch the battery back on.
