Resolve this problem
Restore Bluetooth: the app cannot find your home battery
The ZinVolt app does not show a battery during pairing or scanning. First check Bluetooth and location services. If that does not help, restarting the battery may restore the Bluetooth connection.
Check the basics
Make sure your phone can find the battery. The app uses Bluetooth and location services for this.
- Check that the battery is switched on.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- Enable location services.
- Allow the ZinVolt app to access Bluetooth and location when prompted.
- Check that the Wi-Fi stick’s indicator is lit.

Step 2Restart the battery
For ZinVolt Core and Base. Follow the order below; release the button after 5 seconds.
Devices connected to the backup output lose power when you switch the battery off.
A restart may help if the app cannot find the battery via Bluetooth. Scan again after restarting.
- Switch off the mains supply to the battery, for example using the isolator switch or the plug for your installation.
- Press and hold the power button (on top of the Core, on the side of the Base) for 5 seconds.
- Release the button.
- Then wait until all status indicators are off.
- Restore the mains supply to the battery. The battery starts automatically.
- Reopen the app and try pairing again.
Try again in the app after this check. Does the battery appear or does setup now work? Continue with your guide. If the same problem returns, contact ZinVolt.
Still unable to find the battery after scanning again? Contact ZinVolt and we’ll help you investigate.
Resolve this problem
The app cannot find Wi-Fi
No Wi-Fi networks appear during setup. This usually means the app temporarily cannot retrieve networks or the connection to the battery is not yet stable.
Refresh the Wi-Fi scan
Start by scanning again. This is often enough, especially if the battery has just been switched on.
- Scan for Wi-Fi networks again in the app.
- Wait a few seconds before scanning again.
- Stay close to the battery.
Step 2Restart setup
Still no networks showing? Exit the setup process completely and start again.
- Exit the setup process.

Resolve this problem
The app sees Wi-Fi, but not your network
Can you see other Wi-Fi networks but not your own? This usually relates to your router settings or the signal where the battery is located.
Check range and visibility
The battery can only connect to a visible network with a strong enough signal.
- Check that your network is not hidden.
- Move closer to the router during setup.
- Check that your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network.
Step 2Open your router settings
Log in to your router to check how your Wi-Fi network is configured.
- Open a browser.
- Go to your router’s IP address, often 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.178.1.
- Log in using your router’s credentials.
- Open the Wi-Fi settings.
Unsure of the IP address? See this explanation: Find your router’s IP address.
Still not resolved? Next checkStep 3Check the Wi-Fi settings
Some routers combine 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under one network name. This can cause problems for smart devices.
- Is the 2.4 GHz network enabled?
- Do the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks have different names?
- Is the network set to visible?
- Unsure which Wi-Fi mode to use for older devices? Check your router’s manual or ask your internet provider which setting suits your network.
- Before changing channel optimisation, ask your internet provider whether it could affect your router’s connection.
- Could a router setting be blocking the connection? If unsure, ask your internet provider or ZinVolt to help; do not simply lower your security settings.
Best solutionCreate a separate 2.4 GHz network
A separate 2.4 GHz network often provides the most stable connection for the battery and P1 dongle.
- Create an additional 2.4 GHz network.
- Give it a recognisable name, such as “wifi 2.4”.
- Connect the battery to this new network.

Resolve this problem
Stuck on “connecting to Wi-Fi”
The app stays on “connecting to Wi-Fi” and does not continue to “configuring battery”. The battery can see the network, but the connection is not completing correctly.
Check your Wi-Fi details
A small password error or the wrong network can prevent the battery from connecting.
- Check that the Wi-Fi password was entered correctly.
- Check that the network uses 2.4 GHz.
- Check that the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough where the battery is installed.
Step 2Restart everything
For ZinVolt Core and Base. Follow the order below; release the button after 5 seconds.
Devices connected to the backup output lose power when you switch the battery off.
Trying again often helps when the battery attempts to connect but does not progress.
- Close the app completely.
- Switch off the mains supply to the battery, for example using the isolator switch or the plug for your installation.
- Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
- Release the button.
- Then wait until all status indicators are off.
- Restore the mains supply to the battery. The battery starts automatically.
- Reopen the app and start setup again.
NextCreate a new Wi-Fi network if needed
Still stuck? Create a separate 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network on your router and connect the battery to it.
Try again in the app after this check. Does the battery appear or does setup now work? Continue with your guide. If the same problem returns, contact ZinVolt.

Resolve this problem
Wi-Fi connected, but configuration failed
The Wi-Fi connection succeeds, but the app does not progress beyond “configuring battery”. It then reports that configuration failed.
Restart setup
The battery has often come online, but the app has not completed its configuration correctly.
- Close the app completely.
- Reopen the app.
- Start setup again.
Step 2Restart the battery
For ZinVolt Core and Base. Follow the order below; release the button after 5 seconds.
Devices connected to the backup output lose power when you switch the battery off.
A restart may help establish the connection again. Then retry setup. If it keeps failing, contact ZinVolt.
- Switch off the mains supply to the battery, for example using the isolator switch or the plug for your installation.
- Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
- Release the button.
- Then wait until all status indicators are off.
- Restore the mains supply to the battery. The battery starts automatically.
- Start setup again.
Step 3Create a new Home
Does configuration keep failing? Create a new Home in the ZinVolt app using the top-left corner of the dashboard. Keep your existing Home and devices. Then restart the app and try setup in the new Home. Unsure about your current configuration? Contact ZinVolt first.
Try again in the app after this check. Does the battery appear or does setup now work? Continue with your guide. If the same problem returns, contact ZinVolt.

Resolve this problem
P1 dongle not found
The P1 dongle cannot be found during setup. This is often related to pairing mode or power from the P1 port.
Start pairing again
Begin a new pairing attempt so the app scans for the P1 dongle again.
- Restart the P1 dongle setup.
- Close the app completely and reopen it.
- Check that the P1 dongle’s indicator is lit.
Step 2Check the connection to your meter
For the ZinVolt P1 dongle covered by the P1 guide, blue means the meter is connected; green means it is not connected. Fast or slow flashing also indicates the Wi-Fi and server connection status.
- Check that the dongle is securely plugged into the smart meter’s P1/DATA port.
- Does the indicator stay green or fail to turn blue? Also check the power supply in the next step.
- See the full status-indicator explanation in the P1 guide. For a different dongle model, use that model’s manual or ask ZinVolt for help.
SolutionUse an additional power supply
Provide additional power to the P1 dongle using a separate 5 V/1 A USB-C adapter and a USB-C cable. Do not use a power bank.
Then scan for the P1 dongle again in the app. Check the dashboard to confirm that current meter data is arriving and updating. An indicator light or a reading of 0 kW alone is not enough. Continue in the P1 guide; if current data still does not arrive, contact ZinVolt.
Need help? Send us a message or check the P1 dongle’s product manual.
Resolve this problem
P1 dongle found, but Wi-Fi will not connect
The app finds and pairs with the P1 dongle, but it then fails to connect to Wi-Fi. This is similar to Wi-Fi issues with the battery.
Check your network
The P1 dongle is often located in the meter cupboard, where the Wi-Fi signal may be weaker than elsewhere in your home.
- Check that the Wi-Fi password was entered correctly.
- Check that the network uses 2.4 GHz.
- Check that the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough at the meter cupboard.
Step 2Try pairing again
Trying again often helps when the P1 dongle is found but does not complete its Wi-Fi connection.
- Close the app completely.
- Reopen the app.
- Restart the P1 dongle setup.
Best solutionUse a separate 2.4 GHz network
Check that your network uses 2.4 GHz. Still not working? If needed, create a separate 2.4 GHz network and connect the P1 dongle to it.
Then scan for the P1 dongle again in the app. Check the dashboard to confirm that current meter data is arriving and updating. An indicator light or a reading of 0 kW alone is not enough. Continue in the P1 guide; if current data still does not arrive, contact ZinVolt.
