Pairing multiple ZinVolt Base systems in the ZinVolt app

This guide explains how to add multiple ZinVolt Base systems to the same Home in the ZinVolt app. This allows the systems to work together as a single multi-system and expands the storage capacity within the same household.

Where would you like to start?

Follow the guide from top to bottom, or jump to the step where you left off.

Before you start

What you need

  • Your phone with Bluetooth enabled
  • The ZinVolt app with access to your existing Home
  • An active Wi-Fi connection on 2.4 GHz
  • Your Wi-Fi password
  • Multiple ZinVolt Base systems, connected and switched on
  • The P1 dongle PRO connected to the smart meter

What you will do

  1. Check that your first ZinVolt Base is already active in the app
  2. Add an extra ZinVolt Base to the same Home
  3. Set up Wi-Fi to bring the additional system online
  4. Check that all systems appear on the dashboard
  5. Check that the systems work together as a multi-system

Download the ZinVolt app using the buttons below

First check if your foundation is right

To create a multi-system, one ZinVolt Base must already be active and the P1 dongle PRO must be connected within the same Home.

Check your Homes in the ZinVolt app

Have you previously connected multiple ZinVolt Base systems in the ZinVolt app? First check whether any batteries are still listed separately in other Homes. The Home where you will create the multi-system may already have one ZinVolt Base and one P1 dongle PRO connected. You then add the other battery to this multi-system.

1

Open the ZinVolt app and go to the dashboard.

2

Tap the name of your Home at the top left.

3

Then choose Homes beheren (Manage Homes).

4

Make sure one Home contains one battery and one P1 dongle PRO.

5

Create the multi-system in that Home, then connect the other battery.

Unlinking devices at step 4?

Want to unlink devices in a Home? In the ZinVolt app, go to the dashboard and tap the name of your current Home at the top left. Choose Homes beheren (Manage Homes), open the Home and select the device you want to remove. Then tap Ontkoppelen (Unlink).

Create multisystem

Create Multi-System

First check that you have the latest version of the ZinVolt app.

Open the app and go to the dashboard, or home screen. Tap the picture of your ZinVolt home battery. This opens the page for that battery.

Next, open the battery settings. Under Acties (Actions), you will see Multisysteem aanmaken (Create multi-system). Tap it to start creating a multi-system.

Please note: this feature is currently only available for multiple ZinVolt Base systems. Connecting multiple ZinVolt Power systems as a multi-system is not yet possible.

Start by naming your multi-system. Choose a name you will recognise, such as “Home battery” or “ZinVolt system”. You can change this name later.

Named your multi-system? Continue to step 2.

Cannot find the ZinVolt Base in the app after it has been on for a long time? Its Bluetooth signal may temporarily be inactive. You can reactivate it by switching the battery fully off and back on.

Switch off mains power to the ZinVolt Base using the isolator or plug connection. Hold the on/off button on the side for 5 seconds, then release it. Wait until all status lights are off. Restore mains power: the battery starts automatically. Then search for the battery again in the app. View the full restart steps for ZinVolt Core and Base.

Indicate how the batteries are connected

Indicate how the batteries are connected

In this step, specify how the different ZinVolt Base systems in your home are connected. The app uses this information to control the multi-system safely and correctly.

In the Netherlands, a home battery connected through a standard wall socket is normally limited to feeding back a maximum of 800 W per circuit. A ZinVolt Base is therefore set to 800 W by default.

Is a ZinVolt Base connected to its own circuit in the consumer unit? Its maximum output can then be increased to 2,000 W.

Choose the correct connection arrangement for your systems in the app:

  • Zelfde groep & fase (Same circuit and phase)
  • Verschillende groepen, zelfde fase (Different circuits, same phase)
  • Verschillende fases (Different phases)

Important: a ZinVolt Base set to 2,000 W must always be connected to its own dedicated circuit. Using several systems at 2,000 W? Each system must have its own circuit.

Unsure which option to choose? Check the consumer unit first or ask an electrician for advice before continuing.

Pair the other ZinVolt Base systems

Pair the other ZinVolt Base systems

After creating the multi-system, you can connect the other ZinVolt Base systems. This works in the same way as a normal ZinVolt Base setup.

Need a reminder of how to set up a ZinVolt Base? Open the ZinVolt Base installation guide.

Connect the battery to Wi-Fi. Once connected, the app automatically completes these steps: connecting to Wi-Fi, enabling multi-system, checking online status, connecting the battery and creating the multi-system.

When all steps show a green check, configuration is complete and the battery has been added to the multi-system.

Does the app show an error during Multisysteem aanmaken (Create multi-system)? Email info@zinvolt.com. We can then check remotely and help you connect the system correctly.

Check the multi-system

Check the multisystem

Once pairing succeeds, the battery screen in the ZinVolt app shows that the system is online. At the top, you will see how many systems are active in the multi-system, for example Online (2 systems).

Under Multisysteem (Multi-system), you will see all connected ZinVolt Base systems. For each battery, you can see whether it is online, its charge level and how much power it is supplying or drawing at that moment.

This makes it easy to check that all batteries have been added correctly and appear together in one overview. Can you see every system, and are they online? Your multi-system is successfully set up and ready to use.

Is a step not working out?

Is your ZinVolt Base not being found? Check that Bluetooth is on and stay close to the battery. A restart may help: follow the steps for switching ZinVolt Core and Base off and back on. Then search for the battery again in the app.

Having trouble with Wi-Fi or the P1 connection? Check your current Wi-Fi password and follow the P1 dongle PRO guide. There you can choose the route with or without a home battery. For recurring problems, see the targeted checks under installation questions.

Unsure whether everything is connected correctly, or still having trouble after the checks? Contact ZinVolt and tell us which system you have and which step is not working.

Devices connected to the backup power outlet also lose power while the battery is switched off.
