Add Extra Stack module to your ZinVolt Base
On this page, you will find a step-by-step guide on how to add an additional ZinVolt Stack module to an existing ZinVolt Base. This guide is intended for customers who wish to expand their system from 4 kWh to 8 kWh.

Before you begin
What you will do
- Fully charge the current Stack module
- Switch the system off completely
- Remove the existing Stack and place the new one
- Charge the new Stack module to 100%
- Switch the system off again
- Reassemble the complete 8 kWh system and switch it on
Follow these steps in the correct order
By fully charging both Stack modules separately first, you avoid a difference in charge level when reassembling the complete 8 kWh system.
Step 1
Charge your current Stack module to 100%
First check that your existing ZinVolt Base with its current Stack module is fully charged.
- Allow the existing system to charge fully
- Check in the app that the battery is at 100%
- Only continue once the current Stack is fully charged
Step 2
Completely shut down the system
Once the current Stack module is fully charged, switch the system off completely.
- Switch off mains power to the battery using the isolator or plug connection
- Hold the on/off button on the side of the ZinVolt Base for 5 seconds
- Release the button
- Wait until all status lights are off. The battery is then completely switched off

Devices connected to the backup power outlet also lose power while the battery is switched off.
Step 3
Remove the current Stack and place the new Stack module
- Remove the current Stack module from underneath the ZinVolt Base
- Check that the terminating resistor / end cap is fitted to the bottom Stack module
- Then place the new Stack module underneath the Base
- Check that the new Stack is correctly positioned
Step 4
Charge the new Stack module to 100%
- Restore mains power. The ZinVolt Base starts automatically
- Charge the new Stack module to 100%
- Check in the app that the battery is at 100%
- Once the new Stack module is fully charged, continue to step 5
Step 5
Completely shut down the system again
Once the new Stack module is at 100%, switch the system off completely again.
- Switch off mains power to the battery using the isolator or plug connection
- Hold the on/off button on the side of the ZinVolt Base for 5 seconds
- Release the button
- Wait until all status lights are off. The battery is then completely switched off

Step 6
Build up the entire 8 kWh system and turn it back on
You can now reassemble and switch on the complete system with both Stack modules.
- Place both Stack modules back underneath the ZinVolt Base
- Check that the terminating resistor / end cap is fitted to the bottom Stack module
- Restore mains power. The ZinVolt Base starts automatically
- Check in the app that the system now shows 8 kWh

Step not working?
Is your ZinVolt Base not being found? Check that Bluetooth is on and stay close to the battery. A restart may help: follow the steps for switching ZinVolt Core and Base off and back on. Then search for the battery again in the app.
